Terms of Service

Effective date

Article 1 (Purpose)

These Terms of Service (these "Terms") set forth the rights, obligations, and responsibilities between Testbank Inc. (the "Company") and users in connection with the use of the study note application "SOLVE" and the web-based e-book service "SOLVEBOOKS (https://books.solve.im)" (collectively, the "Service") provided by the Company.

Article 2 (Definitions)

  1. "Service" means the e-book reading, study note, content management, and other related services provided through the SOLVE app (mobile application), SOLVEBOOKS (website https://books.solve.im), and the online platforms linked thereto, each operated by the Company.
  2. "Products" means tangible and intangible goods that the Company or its partners provide to users, including e-books, usage passes, coupons, serial codes, and other digital content.
  3. "Third-party sales channel (3P channel)" means an online sales platform outside the Company, such as Coupang or Naver, through which a user purchases an e-book coupon or usage pass of the Company and then registers (activates) it in the SOLVE Service for use.
  4. "Partner" means an external business operator, such as Hackers Language Institute or YBM NET, that has entered into a content integration agreement with the Company, sells content on its own platform, and provides that content through the viewer of the SOLVE Service.
  5. "Digital Special Edition (combined print-digital set product)" means a new type of set-planned book in which a printed workbook is combined with an e-book and additional features (grading, explanations, wrong-answer notes, tablet handwriting, listening play for language study books, etc.). Users may purchase such products through third-party sales channels such as Coupang, and register the e-book usage pass (coupon, serial code, etc.) provided together with the physical book in the SOLVE Service.
  6. "Activation" means the procedure by which a user registers an e-book coupon or usage pass purchased through an external channel or a Partner to the user's account in the SOLVE Service and is granted the right to read and use it.
  7. "Mobile-number-based account identifier" means the internal key value that the Company assigns on the basis of the user's mobile phone number in order to identify the user of the Service.

(2) Terms not defined in the preceding paragraph are interpreted in accordance with applicable laws and general commercial practice.

Article 3 (Effect and Amendment of the Terms)

  1. The Company posts these Terms in the SOLVE app and on the SOLVEBOOKS website (https://books.solve.im) so that users may review them at any time.
  2. The Company may amend these Terms to the extent that the amendment does not violate applicable laws; when amending, the Company announces the effective date and the reasons for the amendment starting no later than 7 days before the effective date.
  3. Where an amendment materially affects the rights or obligations of members, the Company gives individual notice by e-mail, text message, or similar means.
  4. A member who does not agree to the amended Terms may discontinue use of the Service and withdraw from membership.

Article 4 (Obligations of the Company)

  1. The Company faithfully complies with the obligations set out in applicable laws and these Terms.
  2. The Company uses its best efforts to provide the Service in a stable manner and restores the Service without delay when a failure occurs.
  3. The Company maintains the security systems required by applicable laws in order to protect users' personal data.
  4. The Company does not send for-profit advertising information without the user's prior consent.
  5. Provided, that only where a user has separately consented to receiving marketing information, the Company may send informational messages such as SOLVEBOOKS events, feature updates, and new service launches.

Article 5 (Obligations of Users)

  1. Users must comply with applicable laws, these Terms, and the notices given within the Service.
  2. Users must not engage in any of the following acts:
    • Registering false information or using another person's information without authorization
    • Using Service functions in an improper manner or causing a failure of the Service
    • Infringing copyrights or other intellectual property rights of the Company or third parties
    • Circumventing technical protection measures, including reverse engineering and decompilation
    • Using the Service for purposes other than its intended use, such as for-profit, advertising, or political activities
    • Any other unlawful or improper act

Article 6 (Provision and Modification of the Service)

  1. The Company stores and manages files uploaded by members through the SOLVE app and SOLVEBOOKS, and provides e-book reading and study note features.
  2. The Company provides the Service in the following forms:
    • Provision of e-books and digital content sold directly by the Company
    • Features that allow users to upload PDF files they lawfully hold and to read, annotate, and manage them for personal study
    • Activation of e-book coupons and usage passes purchased through third-party sales channels (Coupang, Naver, etc.) and the granting of reading rights
    • Viewer functionality and account-linking support for content sold by Partners (Hackers Language Institute, YBM NET, etc.)
    • Activation and reading features for Digital Special Editions (combined print-digital set products)
    • Other supplementary services determined by the Company
  3. To activate a product purchased through a third-party sales channel, the user must sign up as a member; upon registration, reading rights are granted to the account.
  4. Users of Partner content may sign up for the SOLVE Service, or be automatically matched to an account, on the basis of the information provided by the Partner. The information provided is limited to the minimum necessary, such as name, mobile phone number, and order number.
  5. For Digital Special Editions (combined print-digital set products), the purchase of and payment for the physical book are governed by the terms of the external channel (e.g., Coupang), and the SOLVE Service provides only the registration and reading features for the e-book usage pass.

Article 7 (Use of the Service)

  1. In principle, the Service is provided 24 hours a day, every day of the year. However, it may be temporarily suspended for unavoidable reasons such as system maintenance.
  2. Users must use the functions of the Service only in normal ways.
  3. Users warrant that all materials they upload (including PDFs) are lawfully acquired files, and must not infringe copyrights or other rights of third parties.
  4. If a violation or infringement is suspected, the Company may take measures such as restricting access, deleting the material, or suspending the account without prior notice.
  5. The Company operates its systems within a reasonable scope for data backup, and is not liable for causes not attributable to the Company, such as device errors.

Article 8 (Membership Registration)

  1. A user applies for membership by entering the required information in accordance with the procedure set by the Company and agreeing to these Terms.
  2. The Company may withhold its acceptance for technical or operational reasons; membership takes effect at the time of acceptance.
  3. For users of Partner content, an account may be automatically created or matched using the minimum information provided by the Partner (name, mobile phone number, order number, etc.).
  4. Where a user purchases a Digital Special Edition (combined print-digital set product) through an external sales channel such as Coupang, payment for and delivery of the physical book are governed by the terms of that channel, and the SOLVE Service provides only the registration and reading features for the e-book usage pass.
  5. The Company does not collect age or date-of-birth information during membership registration, and the Service is provided for general users. If it is confirmed that a child under the age of 14 has used the Service without the consent of a legal representative, the Company may restrict or delete the relevant account.

Article 9 (Obligations Regarding Member IDs and Passwords)

Members are responsible for securely managing their own account credentials and must not allow third parties to use them.

Article 10 (Membership Withdrawal and Loss of Membership Status)

A member may request withdrawal from membership at any time, and the Company processes the withdrawal immediately. The Company may restrict, suspend, or revoke membership status if the user violates these Terms.

Article 11 (Notice to Members)

The Company may give individual notice to the e-mail address or mobile phone number registered by the member, and notice to unspecified members may be substituted by posting on the SOLVEBOOKS website.

Article 12 (Formation of Purchase Contracts)

Users may select Products through SOLVEBOOKS or a third-party sales channel and apply for a purchase by agreeing to the terms and completing the payment procedure.

Article 13 (Payment Methods)

Users may pay for Products using electronic payment methods such as credit cards, electronic money, and gift certificates recognized by the Company.

Article 14 (Delivery of Products)

For Products that require delivery, such as physical books, delivery procedures and schedules are governed by the terms of the relevant sales channel (e.g., Coupang).

Article 15 (Refunds)

In the event of a stock-out or inability to provide a Product, the Company notifies the user without delay and proceeds with a refund.

Article 16 (Withdrawal of Offer (Cancellation))

The withdrawal of offers (cancellation) and refunds for Products purchased through external sales channels are governed by the terms and policies of the relevant sales channel.

The SOLVE Service does not directly handle refund procedures that arise after activation of an e-book usage pass.

Article 17 (Personal Data Protection)

The Company collects the minimum personal data necessary to provide the Service and expressly notifies users of the purposes of collection and the scope of use.

The Company may receive minimum user information (name, mobile phone number, order number, etc.) from Partners; such information is not used for any purpose other than account matching and service provision.

Article 18 (Ownership of Copyright)

  1. All copyrights and intellectual property rights in the content produced and provided by the Company, the elements of the Service screens, software, databases, and algorithms belong to the Company.
  2. Copyright in materials uploaded directly by a user (PDFs, images, handwriting data, etc.) belongs to that user.
  3. If materials uploaded by a user infringe the copyright or other rights of a third party, the user bears all legal responsibility therefor.
  4. Upon confirming a violation, the Company may delete the relevant material or restrict access to it without prior notice.
  5. When a user deletes uploaded materials or withdraws from membership, the materials are deleted immediately or after a certain period.
  6. The Company may use anonymized data to improve service quality and analyze errors.
  7. Copyright in content provided through Partners or third-party sales channels belongs to the respective content providers.
  8. This Article survives the termination of the Service.

Article 19 (Disclaimer)

The Company is not liable for damage caused by force majeure, such as natural disasters, communication failures, or the interruption of external services.

The Company also bears no liability for damages with respect to services provided free of charge.

Article 20 (Dispute Resolution)

The Company handles user complaints promptly; where mediation is difficult, the Company may follow the mediation of dispute-mediation bodies such as the Fair Trade Commission of the Republic of Korea.

Article 21 (Jurisdiction and Governing Law)

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and the Seoul Central District Court has jurisdiction over any dispute arising hereunder.

Article 22 (Service Unification and Integrated Account Operation)

  1. The SOLVE app and SOLVEBOOKS are operated as a single service system, and users may use both services in an integrated manner with one account (based on the mobile phone number).
  2. These Terms apply equally to users of the SOLVE app, SOLVEBOOKS, and Partner-linked content.
  3. The Company gives prior notice of material changes to the integrated account system.
